![]() I haven't actually paid for DaVinci Resolve Studio 16 because I was never prompted to do so. I didn't actually do any work in DaVinci Resolve Studio 16. What should I do? I could go back to DaVinci Resolve 15 for now. I do have a serial number, but it is apparently not the same number of digits as the activation key. Now, whenever I try to open DaVinci Resolve Studio 16, I get asked for an activation key that I never received. So I downloaded DaVinci Resolve Studio 16 and installed it. I clicked Buy Now, but subsequently never saw an opportunity to actual buy it. If you dont have dozens of projects, Id just export all the projects and import them into a new database on the new machine, so everything is cleaned up. I got a message saying "You have reached a limitation with DaVinci Resolve", telling me about DaVinci Resolve Studio. The process is very simple: if you activate the third machine, the first activation is canceled automatically. While I was at it, I enabled de-interlacing and set Noise Reduction to High. I used Clip Attributes, and explored the Super Scale options. I created a new project only for this experiment, and imported the media. All I wanted to do was experiment with Super Scale, on media unrelated to the project that I've been working on. Davinci Resolve Studio 18.6.5 Build 7, Windows 11, Nvidia 3060 TI, 551.23 Studio. For me the first time I activated I had to type in the Activation Key but since then theres been no issues. I have worked on only one project, until today. Download Fusion Studio and the same key works for Fusion and Davinci (as of version 17). I started with DaVinci Resolve 15 on my 5k iMac. So I waited several days for support to confirm that my license was okay before looking more closely at my own computer.I am new to DaVinci Resolve. The talk of VPNs and so on convinced me that it was probably a license server issue beyond my control. I write this note because when I had the problem I googled it and found this thread. the Resolve directory being on a disk that is full. Meanwhile I would also suggest checking for conditions that might prevent resolve from writing the license data e.g. It is important to know whether the license key is invalid, whether the license server is malfunctioning, or whether the problem is on the local computer. I hope that Resolve will show a more specific error in the future. Resolve was just not able to write the license data to disk due to a filesystem error (in my case I had made the Resolve dir read-only after installation.) My problem turned out to be on my own computer and nothing to do with the license key or license server or network connection. I don't understand why BM license system is so messy. I have to go on windows, activate, then disable licences, then reboot on linux and activate. Same issue here, I am on linux and it is all a mess, I activate then the next day it tells me to activate again and I can't. I have to rely on the automatic deactivate, which doesn't seem to work on Linux. This time I can't do that because I no longer have access to the system. What I have done in the past is go to MacOS and select "Deactivate" without any issues so that I can then install on Linux. However, on Linux, it doesn't seem to do that part properly as it always fails. It looks like when you attempt to activate on Windows or Mac, it contacts Blackmagic DB servers to deactivate the oldest installation. On Windows or MacOS, this doesn't seem to be an issue.
